Can weather be a trigger?
Some people report weather-related migraine patterns, but an individual trigger is not proof that cervical alignment is responsible. Migraine is a neurologic condition with multiple influences. A change in the weather should not explain away a new or unusual headache.
What can a diary record?
Note the date, duration, symptoms, medicines, sleep, meals, and possible triggers. A diary may help you and your health care professional look for patterns and evaluate treatment. Avoid assuming that every headache during a Yakima Valley weather shift has the same cause.
Where does chiropractic care fit?
Some headaches arise from the neck, but that is distinct from a universal explanation for migraine. Evidence for manual approaches varies. Discuss an appropriate diagnosis, established treatment options, risks, and alternatives; no adjustment can promise to prevent weather-triggered attacks.
Which symptoms should not wait?
A sudden extremely severe headache, fever with stiff neck, weakness, speech or vision changes, or a severe headache after injury needs urgent medical assessment. Arrange reassessment for changing or increasingly frequent headaches.
